Hello, and welcome to my 100th post!! It feels weird to be coming to you on a different day of the week, but I've got a special/serious post to share tomorrow. I didn't want to wait a super long time to get this one up, so Friday it is. Quickly before I get into this one, I want to thank you guys for the response to the post about my purple hair! It's only been up for 2 days and is already my 4th most viewed post. If you checked it out, thank you. It really means a lot to me!

I just wanted to share what I wore on the Fourth of July with you today! I've never been the kind of person who dresses up for particular holidays and events. Recently, I've realized that holidays only come once a year (Weird, right?), and I personally feel like I have more fun when I'm dressed for the occasion. Might as well just go for it. Without a doubt, this is the most patriotic I have ever looked. The skirt I am wearing is probably my favorite one that I own. It goes with so many things, and it's long enough to be appropriate for any situation. It's navy blue with white polka dots which made it a perfect choice for July 4th. I shared last week that I've been caught up in World Cup fever (I did play soccer for 15 years, so I don't think anyone is surprised). I had been hunting for a player shirt to wear for the USA vs. Belgium game. I picked up this Clint Dempsey one at my local soccer shop. It is so soft, so it is safe to say that I'll be wearing this long after he retires. I added a pair of white sneakers that I had taken some sharpies to a few years back and a red headband. Below, you'll find pictures, outfit details, and a few similar pieces in case you are looking for anything like these.

Shirt: US Soccer
Skirt: Alex Marie
Shoes: Target
Headband: H&M

Since Valentine's Day is coming up, I wanted to share my idea for festive nails just like I did for Christmas which you can see here! Just like in that one, I kept it simple. I like to keep my nails vaguely festive rather than all out and in your face. It plays off the heart shape and your classic Valentine's colors of pink and red. I included the polish information and some step-by-step pictures on how to achieve it. Hope you like it!

I started as always with the Sally Hansen Double Duty Base and Top Coat. I love this stuff because it really protects your nails from staining, and I find that it works incredibly well as a top coat. I did my nails this way over a week ago, and I hardly have any chips. The red I chose is the Wet N Wild Megalast polish in D195A Taking the Red-Eye. The darkest shade of pink is Rose from the Glow in the Dark range from love & beauty at Forever 21. The baby pink is the Sally Hansen Insta-Dri Nail Color in 160 Mauve It. I also threw on the Essie Apricot cuticle oil afterwards for a little extra moisturizing.

I absolutely love this look. I'm all about simple ways to get in the spirit of a holiday.
What kind of nails are you planning for this year?

P.S. Just in case you are looking for an adorable Valentine's Day card to give to someone special, my sweet friend Nalin has a shop on Etsy with adorable cards like these!

Merry Christmas everybody! I am going to be spending a lot of time with my family and traveling to visit my grandparents today. I just wanted to quickly share some old Christmas pictures that I found in my house during this break. They made me laugh, so I thought they deserved to be shared. Merry Christmas from baby Leslie!

Hello! I am absolutely obsessed with painting my nails painted. They are always painted. Always. I also love to match my nails to the occasion. Whether it is a concert or a holiday, I love to include a design if possible. This Christmas I did just that. I wanted to keep it simple. I can't get too crazy, or I won't be able to paint it on my right hand (the eternal struggle of girls everywhere, am I right?). I really focused on including on the colors of the season which for me are red, green, gold, and white. I painted four of my nails red and went with an accent design on my ring finger using the three other colors. On 4 of my nails, I used the Wet n Wild Megalast nail polish in D195A Taking the Red-eye. On the accent nail, I used a gold Metal Pop polish from Charlotte Russe, Pure Ice polish in Femme Fatale, and a Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear polish in White On. I can't remember exact prices on all of these as I have collected them over the year, but I know for certain they were all under $5. This is the finished look and the polishes that I used!

Now for how to get this look!

Step 1: Start off with a solid gold polish. Mine from Charlotte Russe is quite opaque, so I can get away with one coat of it. Do as many coats as you need for an opaque finish.
Step 2: Take your green polish and apply it in 2 strokes on the nail. Don't worry to much about having clean curves as you can cover it with the white polish later.
Step 3: Trace the curve of your green with your white polish. I used a small nail art brush that I bought at Sally's Beauty Supply.

Then, you just clean it up and are ready to go! What is your favorite way to paint your nails?
